OpCapita appoints Stephen Alexander as Operating Partner

OpCapita LLP (“OpCapita”), the private investment firm specialising in operational turnarounds in the European retail, consumer and leisure sectors, is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Alexander as an operating partner.

Stephen has more than 30 years’ experience across a wide range of consumer businesses in Europe and the US. He began his career with Imperial Foods before moving to Allied Domecq plc where he was Chairman of Lyons Tetley, Dunkin’ Donuts and Allied’s pub group and Chief Executive of both the Retailing and Food Divisions. He spent 2 years with Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst as Chief Executive of Hillsdown Holdings followed by 8 years as Operational Managing Director at Terra Firma. During this time at Terra Firma Stephen led strategic and operational change in businesses including Meridien Hotels, Odeon Cinemas, AWAS Aircraft Leasing and international music company, EMI.

Stephen is currently Chairman of Immediate Media Co, Look Ahead Housing and Care and a Non-Executive Director of Dairy Crest Group plc.

Stephen is OpCapita’s third Operating Partner joining David Hamid and John von Spreckelsen. Stephen’s extensive experience, knowledge and strong track record further strengthens the team as the company continues to develop opportunities and investments within the consumer and retail space. In the past six months, OpCapita has acquired Comet, the electricals retailer, and GAME UK, the video games retailer.
