OpCapita bolsters team with three new appointments
Chris McDermott promoted to Managing Director.

OpCapita LLP, the European private equity partnership, today announced the appointments of Costas Kalisperas, Susan Corsini and Emanuele Torre. All three appointments are effective immediately.
Costas Kalisperas joins as a Managing Director and will be responsible for transaction origination and execution. He brings more than 25 years' corporate finance experience across law, investment banking and early stage investing. Previously Co-Head of Barclays' European Consumer and Retail franchise, Costas also held several senior banking roles within Credit Suisse, Lehman Brothers and Moelis & Company. More recently, Costas has acted as a private investor and advisor to a number of technology-based start-up businesses, often with a consumer-facing connection. He holds an LL.B (Hons) degree from the University of Nottingham and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Susan Corsini joins as a Director and will be engaged in the evaluation and execution of new investments, as well as in the monitoring and implementation of operational initiatives at portfolio companies. She has more than 18 years' corporate finance experience, advising public and private companies across the consumer, retail and leisure sectors in both the UK and Europe. Prior to joining OpCapita, Susan was a Director within the Consumer, Retail and Leisure M&A team at Rothschild. She began her career at Macquarie Bank, where she qualified as a chartered accountant. Susan holds an LL.B / B. Comm (Accounting and Finance) from the University of Western Australia and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Emanuele Torre is engaged in the evaluation and execution of new investments as well as in the monitoring and implementation of operational initiatives at portfolio companies. Prior to joining OpCapita, Emanuele was an Associate at Barclays in London, where he focused on transactions across the TMT space. Previously, he was a Senior Consultant at The Capital Markets Company in Geneva and Zurich. Emanuele started his career as a Telecom Engineer at Motorola in Milan. Emanuele has an MBA from London Business School and a Master in Telecommunications Engineering, cum Laude, from the University of Perugia.

The firm has also announced that Chris McDermott, who joined OpCapita in March 2007, has been promoted to Managing Director. Chris is responsible for all aspects of the investment lifecycle with engagement in investment origination, transaction execution and operational implementation of improvement initiatives, working closely with the Operating Partners. Chris is also responsible for the ESG policy and its implementation across the portfolio.

The new appointments reflect the firm's success in seeking to continue to develop and strengthen the OpCapita team, which has increased from eight to 19 people over the last four years.

In March 2018, OpCapita announced the purchase of Sebeto Group, a leading operator of casual-dining restaurants in Italy. It marks the third investment by OpCapita Consumer Opportunities Fund II. The Fund has previously backed The Football Pools, the UK gaming operator, and Merkal Calzados, a leading Spanish footwear retailer.
