OpCapita announces new Chairman
Brian McBride has joined OpCapita as Chairman effective 1 June, following more than ten years of involvement with the firm as a co-investor and informal adviser on a number of our previous investments. In addition to providing senior counsel to our investing activities, he will participate in our portfolio reviews and will join our Investment Committee.
Brian brings extensive experience in technology and online retailing, including serving as CEO of Amazon UK, where he was responsible for building up its UK operations, and Chairman of ASOS, an online clothing and cosmetics retailer with $5 billion of revenues globally.

He is also the incoming President of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), which represents over 190,000 businesses in their relationship with the UK government.

Brian began his career selling photocopiers for Xerox in Glasgow before joining IBM, where he worked in the UK and in the USA for them. He was then hired by Michael Dell to run Dell's operations in the UK and Northern Europe. Following that, Brian became the Managing Director for
T Mobile, where he launched 3G in the UK.

He is currently Chair of Trainline PLC, on the Boards of the BBC and Abrdn PLC (the former Standard Life Aberdeen) and is currently the Lead NED on the Board of the Ministry of Defence. He previously served as Senior Adviser to Lazard's Global Financial Advisory business and Senior Adviser to Scottish Equity Partners.
