OpCapita's Henry Jackson and David Hamid discuss GAME Digital at Private Equity International's Operating Partners Forum
Henry Jackson, OpCapita CEO, and David Hamid, OpCapita Operating Partner and Chairman of GAME Digital PLC ("GAME"), discussed the extensive operational turnaround at GAME, at Private Equity International's Operating Partners Forum, attended by over 150 senior industry executives at the Institute of Directors in London on 20 April 2016.
In October 2015, OpCapita won Private Equity International's Operational Excellence Award in the EMEA Lower Mid-Market category. The award recognises the significant value OpCapita created through its hands-on operational turnaround of GAME.
As Chairman, David spearheaded the turnaround working closely with GAME management and the OpCapita team embedded in the business. The turnaround restored GAME to profitability of £51 million EBITDA in the 2 years after its collapse into administration.
The company's transformation was driven by improved customer insight, a significant strengthening of the relationships with key suppliers, a focus on cash and investment in online and digital infrastructure.
A revitalised GAME was brought to the main market of the London Stock Exchange in June 2014 in a successful IPO just over two years following OpCapita's acquisition of the business out of administration.
